BODY AS AUTOBIOGRAPHY: AN 8-WEEK EMBODIED NARRATIVE JOURNEY

Your life story isn't just stored in your memory—it lives in your nervous system, your breath, and the way you move through the world.

Body as Autobiography is an immersive 8-week Dance/Movement Therapy and somatic writing experience. Over eight weeks, you will translate your personal history into physical movement, moving through your roots, turning points, and triumphs in a safe, witnessed container. The journey culminates in an intimate group sharing circle, where you will perform your 3-to-5-minute solo movement piece for your peers.

This 8-week course design combines Somatic Writing (translating personal narrative into physical sensation) with Dance/Movement Therapy (DMT) concepts.

The goal of this process is not aesthetic choreography or formal dance technique, but autobiographical embodiment—helping participants externalize their story, move through emotional bottlenecks, and share their truth in a supportive container.

Core Modalities: Journaling prompts, Movement Analysis (effort/shape), somatic grounding, witness-partnering, and intuitive performance.

Final Deliverable: A 3-to-5-minute solo movement piece accompanied by spoken narrative or music, performed for the group.
