We are thrilled to host a special 4-Week Intermediate Floorwork & Improv Contemporary Dance Series at Sunset Parlor, led by the incredible Valeria Gonzalez, Artistic Director of @valletodance.

Whether you’re looking to find more fluidity on the floor, strengthen your transitions, or break out of familiar movement patterns through guided improvisation, this series offers a structured, inspiring space to challenge your mind and body.

About the Instructor:  @valletodance

Valeria Gonzalez is a Mexican American dancer, educator, choreographer, producer, and artistic director of VALLETO, a contemporary and experimental dance theater company founded in New York City in 2014. Born in El Paso, Texas, and raised in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Valeria brings depth, sensitivity, and lived experience to her artistic and teaching practice. She trained at Ballet Divertimento in Montreal, The Ailey School in New York, and earned her MFA in Dance from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Her class offers a dynamic and exploratory approach to movement. Each session is intentionally varied: some days begin with grounding breathwork and slow progressions, while others start with high-energy cardio walking, focusing on the sensory connection between the feet and the earth. Through improvisation, partnering, and spontaneous tasks, participants cultivate curiosity, responsiveness, and creative freedom. The class includes traveling floorwork and dynamic standing work, culminating in a movement phrase and reflective discussion.
